Medico-Legal Experience
I have been in medico-legal practice since 1988 and have been listed in the UK Register of Expert Witnesses since 1990. Since June 1988, I have prepared over 6,400 medical reports for personal injury and clinical negligence cases. I have given evidence in Court on 50 occasions. I was a founder member of the Society of Expert Witnesses. I am on the recommended list of medical experts for both APIL and AVMA. I have lectured on the Judicial Studies Board Civil Continuation Seminars.
I currently see over 200 claimants a year for preparation of medico-legal reports (in both personal injury and clinical negligence cases). Approximately 5% of my instructions are on a joint basis. The remainder of my work is split equally between claimant and defendant.
Medico-Legal Services
The cost of a basic medical report in a personal injury case (to include interview/examination of the claimant) is £250. This includes file management charges, word processing and the first 1¼ hours of my professional time. Any further time spent by me in the preparation of the report and any other qualifying work is charged at £200 per hour.
I have Consulting Rooms in London, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne and Oxford. I consult in London and Manchester on alternate weeks (on Thursday afternoons), in Newcastle upon Tyne on alternate Tuesday afternoons and in Oxford on alternate Friday mornings (after my Harley Street clinic).
I can offer a deferred payment scheme, but this must be agreed in advance and the maximum period of deferment is 13 months from the date of the invoice. A deferred payment will attract a higher fee (normal fee plus 20%).
